Felt this would be more appropriate as flood zone always turns into a shit fest.

My uncle passed earlier today and no I'm not coming for sympathy upon my loss but to share with fellow TDS members the good things of life. I loved my uncle very much and wish I could have had more time with him before his final hours. I want you to all cherish what you have, had, and will have as you never know when it will be taken from you. Cherish every moment you are with loved ones like it will be the last. Get lost in the moment and enjoy the little things in life and just don't let petty shit get to you. Be happy as life is far too short to be angry.

One big thing I realized after today, treat others the way you want to be treated. Do you really want the last impression of you to be negative and spiteful? It takes effort to be rude, it's easy to be kind hearted. Simple thank you's and your welcome's go a lot farther then you think, and when you say "I love you" truly mean it and never be afraid to let the ones you cherish and hold close to your heart know just how much they mean to you.

So, in this thread, just post some funny titles (less than 40 chars long) that would fit TDS. What titles am I talking about? Basically what you see on top of your browser when viewing certain web pages on a website. For instance, the title you'll most likely see while viewing this thread is "TDS Titles: Help Submit Some!".

For better clarification, view this image for more info as to what I'm talking about.

Anyway, these titles won't reflect threads you are currently viewing, but rather the forum index. So, submit away!

And remember: NO MORE THAN 40 CHARS!

(CNN) -- A well connected to an oil and gas production platform caught on fire in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday, engulfing the vessel in flames about 100 miles off the central coast of Louisiana and forcing 13 people overboard, Gov. Bobby Jindal said.
All 13 people have been accounted for, said Petty Officer Bill Colclough of the Coast Guard. They were found floating on a raft, officials said. Mariner Energy, which owns the Vermilion Oil Rig 380, said none of the crew members was hurt in the incident, despite earlier reports of a single injured worker.
Also, Mariner indicated that the fire -- which was first reported to the Coast Guard by workers on a nearby rig around 9:20 a.m. (10:20 a.m. ET) -- was not sparked by an explosion. It started at one of the platform's seven active wells, the company said, though its cause is under investigation.

Hay guys.

So the pizzeria I work at needs a bunch of votes to kick up the list as the Best Pizza in San Diego. If you could take a moment to simply register a vote using your email as a username and whatever quick disposable password you need to get through it fast, it would be very appreciated. It shouldn't take longer than a minute, all you have to do is confirm your account via your email inbox, and it would help our business out - especially because the winning pizza place is a shitty awful conveyor belt dump that doesn't deserve it over a lot of other places.

I'm calling the power of the TDS population to help kick us up to at least the top three.

Also if you'd be kind enough you could pass it along to a friend or two, or post it to your Facebook, it would greatly help our progress. There's about a week left to vote and we want to kick some ass late in the game.

Let me know if you voted for us so I can thank you - or if you live in SoCal I'll give you free pizza.

I never actually made an introduction thread when I joined the forums, but the...

I never actually made an introduction thread when I joined the forums, but the reason I joined the Digital Set in the first place was because my website went out of commission for a year; a majority of the staff went off to college. I probably would have joined TDS regardless, but it certainty helped lol!

Anyway, Abyss Studios was originally intended to house all of our personal machinima productions, but we figured we should expand our horizons.

We want to expand our reach outside of gaming and machinima. While I expect a majority of our demographic to be gamers for a while, I am making strides to go beyond. Think of Abyss Studios as Deviant Art, Youtube, machinma.com, fanfiction.com, and several community websites based on those major websites rolled into one! ... or at least as a middle man/meeting ground for all of these art forms to collide.

Our website may be very basic in design and functionality, but the way I have everything organized, and how I use what is available, we should accomplish our goals just fine.

The two prominent forum boards that I want to spotlight are our Exhibition Hall and Virtual Studio. The Exhibition Hall is broken down into four categories that organize people's creations into video, digital and traditional art, music, and literature. It is restricted to personal work only.

The Virtual Studio is about machinima production, but ultimately eliminates "request threads." You can check it out for yourselves later, but I suggest taking a look at the Voice Actor Recruitment and General Recruitment boards.

And then, for kicks, advertise your personal websites as Neighbors.

Now, I'm not telling you about Abyss Studios because I want you to join, I'm telling you about Abyss Studios because I want you to contribute to it. I want active members, and not in terms of posts, but making your talents available to others and showing off your accomplishments.

Thank you for your time.

I dunno, I'm just sick of living in Australia and want to move to America. After finding out that airsoft is illegal here, and we don't allow R rated games (might be changed considering Michael atkinson is resigning), I've sorta realised that Australia is that slow going cautious granny country. I was really pissed off to find out that airsoft is illegal, as I want to start making films and they are great prop guns. I've started doing petitions and all that for the australian airsoft council (the group of people trying to get it legalised) but clearly its not gunna happen. The US seems pretty cool (and I can get airsoft guns), and when I went on holiday there a few years ago I loved it so does anyone have any reason why I shouldn't move over? I want to try and get a job in film or something over there in case you're wondering how I'm actually gunna get permission to move.

(Aug. 15) -- A popular offroad race in southern California ended in tragedy last...

(Aug. 15) -- A popular offroad race in southern California ended in tragedy last night, when a driver lost control of his truck and smashed into a crowd of spectators, killing eight and injuring 12 others.

The accident happened just 12 minutes into the California 200 race, which was being held at Soggy Dry Lake Bed 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The annual event attracts tens of thousands of spectators, who line the 50-mile dirt track and watch all terrain vehicles careen across the Mojave Desert, hitting speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

Eyewitness David Conklin, a photographer covering the event for an offroad magazine, told The Associated Press that the Prerunner truck flipped and plowed into the crowd after hitting a jump known as "the rockpile" about two miles into the race. "There was dust everywhere, people screaming, people running. When I got up to the vehicle I could tell that several people were trapped. There were just bodies everywhere," he said, adding that he "saw one woman with a major head wound lying in a pool of blood. Someone else was crushed beneath the car."

San Bernardino County Fire Department spokeswoman Tracey Martinez told the Riverside Press Enterprise that seven ambulances and 10 emergency helicopters rushed to the crash, and transported 12 people with critical injuries to nearby hospitals. Incredibly, the driver emerged almost unscathed from the wreck, but had to flee the scene when the crowd started "throwing rocks at him," Jeff Talbott, inland division chief for the California Highway Patrol, told the paper.

He added that some members of the crowd had been standing just 10-feet from the dirt track when the crash occurred. "There were no barriers at all," said Talbott. Footage of last year's event on YouTube shows drivers performing stunts close to spectators, who are standing behind a thin orange mesh

http://www.aolnews.com/nation/articl...eight/19594078

can a mod edit the title, spelled accident wrong......

I'm only taking three classes and still managed to get 12 credits worth of classes, So with only three classes I figured I was going to be paying less than the usual $300 "entry fee" for all these stupid books.

So today I looked them up on my University's bookstore, the thing is I usually just buy them for the convenience and knowledge that I have them. But I burst a blood vessel when I discovered I would have to pay $456 just for 4 books. The French Language book just 200 dollars by itself.

I did the usual research after that and found all my books on Amazon, if I don't need some of the crap in the French book I can get all 4 books for approximately $200 with shipping.

My god these publishers are assholes. I didn't care paying 400 bucks for like 12 books, but $452 for 4.

Four lousy books. Geez thank god for the internet.

Okay, so recently (like a week ago) my Xbox Live Account was hacked and who ever did it changed my password and all my security Q's so I can't get it back. I didn't find this out till like four days ago because I've been moving my stuff around.

And not too long ago (like a month) my best friend had the same thing happen to him, but he said he had his mom call Microsoft Support and explain the situation, and they (Microsoft) gave him his account back.

I want to call them, but I've always hated talking on phones (since i was very little) and I'm not exactly sure even who to call, and when I do what do I say. So i was pretty much wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or situation and what you did or what you said.!!!

So for the past 3 years I've been good friends with this girl. I'll even go as far to say best friends. We started out just talking in school and hanging out after in groups. When I met her I was dating my ex for two years so it was never flirty or anything more then friends. We've always gone to parties together and I watched out for her and she kept me from hooking up with exs but we've both hooked each other up with girls. I literally even had sex in the back seat of her car with another girl. We were basically bros. I was dating a girl for 6 months and one drunkin night with my friend and we ended up kissing. We always kiss goodbye and stuff but nothing serious but it was a real kiss. One thing lead to another and I stayed the night. I ended up living a double life and after seeing my girlfriend during the day I spent the nights with my friend. This happened for 3 weeks until I finally put and end to it. We never told anyone and never talked to each other about it until about 3 months later. My girlfriend was pissing me off and I was drunk and I said some rude comments comparing her and my friend in bed and yea, we broke up and cat was out the bag. No one was really suprised and we just acted like it didn't happen. She's been dating a guy now for 3 months and every once in awhile we get lost in the moment still but not often and I find that I'm jealous of this guy. Now for those of you who know me know that I am an asshole and don't get caught in emotions at all but I'm lost. I think I love her but I if we date I know I'm not good for her and can't date her. I'm at a complete loss and I need advice badly. Typed this on my iPod so sorry for the lack of format.

Quote:

Missouri voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a federal mandate to purchase health insurance, rebuking President Barack Obama's administration and giving Republicans their first political victory in a national campaign to overturn the controversial health care law passed by Congress in March.

"The citizens of the Show-Me State don't want Washington involved in their health care decisions," said Sen. Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield, one of the sponsors of the legislation that put Proposition C on the August ballot. She credited a grass-roots campaign involving Tea Party and patriot groups with building support for the anti-Washington proposition.

With most of the vote counted, Proposition C was winning by a ratio of nearly 3 to 1. The measure, which seeks to exempt Missouri from the insurance mandate in the new health care law, includes a provision that would change how insurance companies that go out of business in Missouri liquidate their assets.

"I've never seen anything like it," Cunningham said at a campaign gathering at a private home in Town and Country. "Citizens wanted their voices to be heard."

About 30 Proposition C supporters whooped it up loudly at 9 p.m. when the returns flashed on the television showing the measure passing with more than 70 percent of the vote.

"It's the vote heard 'round the world," said Dwight Janson, 53, from Glendale, clad in an American flag-patterned shirt. Janson said he went to one of the first Tea Party gatherings last year and hopped on the Proposition C bandwagon because he wanted to make a difference.

"I was tired of sitting on the sidelines bouncing my gums," he said.

Missouri was the first of four states to seek to opt out of the insurance purchase mandate portion of the health care law that had been pushed by Obama. And while many legal scholars question whether the vote will be binding, the overwhelming approval gives the national GOP momentum as Arizona, Florida and Oklahoma hold similar votes during midterm elections in November.

"It's a big number," state Sen. Jim Lembke, R-Lemay, said of the vote. "I expected a victory, but not of this magnitude. This is going to propel the issue and several other issues about the proper role of the federal government."

From almost the moment the Democratic-controlled Congress passed the health care law — which aims to increase the number of Americans with health insurance — Republicans have vowed to try to repeal it. Their primary argument is that they believe the federal government should not be involved in mandating health care decisions at the local level.

While repeal might seem an unlikely strategy, the effort to send a message state by state that voters don't approve of being told they have to buy insurance could gain momentum.

That's what Republicans are counting on at least, hoping that the Missouri vote will give the national movement momentum.

"It's like a domino, and Missouri is the first one to fall," Cunningham said. "Missouri's vote will greatly influence the debate in the other states."

Proposition C faced little organized opposition, although the Missouri Hospital Association mounted a mailer campaign opposing the ballot issue in the last couple of weeks. The hospital association, which spent more than $300,000 in the losing effort, said that without the new federal law, those who don't have insurance will cause health care providers and other taxpayers to have higher costs.

"The only way to get to the cost problem in health care is to expand the insurance pool," said hospital association spokesman Dave Dillon. He said the hospital association didn't plan to sue over the law, but he expected it would be challenged.

"I think there is going to be no shortage of people who want to use the courts to resolve this issue," he said.

Democrats also generally opposed Proposition C, though they didn't spend much time or money talking about it.

In the closing days of the campaign, many politicians 'sidled up" to Proposition C, Cunningham said, seeing the momentum the issue had gained.

Among them was U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, who won the Republican primary for U.S. Senate on Tuesday night. Late last week, Blunt announced his support of Proposition C.

On Monday, Blunt said he hoped Missouri voters would send a "ballot box message" to the Obama's administration by overwhelmingly passing the measure.

The question now is whether the administration will respond by suing the state to block passage of the law, much as it did in Arizona recently over illegal immigration.

The issue in both is the same: When state laws conflict with federal laws, the courts have generally ruled in favor of the federal government, because of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Richard Reuben, a law professor at the University of Missouri School of Law, said that if the federal government sues on the issue, it would likely win. Several other Missouri legal and political scholars agreed.

But Cunningham is undaunted. She's got her own experts, and they're ready to do battle in court.

"Constitutional experts disagree," she said. "There is substantial legal status to this thing."

Since Sunday, four eruptions on the sun have sent plasma into space on a crash course for Earth, scientists at NASA have found.

The eruptions, dubbed coronal mass ejections, started early Sunday, NASA said. When the plasma ejected from the eruptions hits the planet, the particles will come down toward the North Pole and South Pole. As they do so, they will hit nitrogen and oxygen, creating a colorful spectacle of green and red lights flying through the sky. According to scientists, the lights will be visible in northern U.S. states, on up to Canada.

The eruptions were caught by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, a spacecraft that offers views of the sun. Scientists there said they were part of the sun awakening from solar minimum--a time where little activity and few sunspots are witnessed on the sun--and moving toward solar maximum, a period of high activity and more sun spots. The period of time between solar minimum and solar maximum is usually 11 years. The last solar maximum occurred in 2001.

The solar eruption is especially important because of its trajectory. "It's the first major Earth-directed eruption in quite some time," Leon Golub, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said in a statement.

At this time, scientists don't know exactly how far south Americans will be able to see the lights show. That said, the light show should be visible around midnight on the East Coast, with subsequent events occurring in the afternoon and evening on Wednesday. See a NASA video of a solar eruption at right.
Anyway, the PC im using is limited, suffice to say. One of my larger projects... 350dpi with like 200 layers, 3225x2475, 217mb, etc etc.... It takes like 2 straight minutes to open it, about 1 minute to save it (every time), and about a minute and a half to export it. Not to mention I'm only using a single 21" monitor at 1440x900 resolution.

As you can imagine, I requested an upgraded computer. Apparently our IT guys called Adobe to get their recommendations for CS4.... This is what they're getting me:
Ask and ye shall receive.
Note the 2x monitors, going to be running dual-monitor mmmm

Hey guys, I know these little "recruitment" topics are getting old, but I really, really need some help. I am currently working on three different projects, and I need all the help I can get. Maybe take a look at what I need and maybe lend a hand?

Abyss Studios Website

My website, Abyss Studios, has been down for a few months while a majority of its community were at college, but now that we are more comfortable dealing with college we are ready to pick it up again. Abyss Studios was originally intended to focus on machinima, but we are expanding our focus to all media elements. It may seem very similar to TDS, but honestly, I don't see much "creativity" being produced.

Our site is nearly complete, but right now, we really need a staff of journalists. These journalists will be required to write weeklly articles about pre-determined articles. If you are into journalism or writing, and want to write about video games and other things, please let me know!

Short Film: Four Benders vs. Sith Lord

You've probably already seen a topic about this, but that topic is more about suggestions and letting you guys know what it is all about. What I want to ask here or people who want to help with the special effects. These effects primiarly deal with the bending of the four elements: earth, water, fire, and air. I feel that Earth will be the most difficult, but if we can pull it off, the film will be that much more awesome. Let me know if you've got some special effects editing skills!

Secret Project

I really can't so much about this project until I publically announce it, you'll probably see it on HBO and/or B.net, but I do require individuals who consider themselves administrators. I need highly organized individuals who are capable of motivating and leading large groups of people, and being able to stay cool under large amounts of pressure. If you think you have what it takes, feel free to let me know.

So yeah, if you can help in any one of these projects, or all three, just let me know and I'll fill you in on all the details. Also, I'm more of a e-mail kind of guy, so if you don't mind PMing me your email, that would be greatly appreciated.

Spotlight, And What Its Goal Is!

Spotlight is a community that was created for mature, intelligent, creative individuals as a place where you can hang out, have conversations about touchy subjects without that annoying, immature member (you know, that member) stepping in and turning it into a flame war. You can post your latest sketch, or signature, or short story, or poem, or pretty much anything creative that you may have made up and get constructive criticism from a community that isn't out to get you, but rather wants to seriously help you improve your skills and help you become better at what you do. Spotlight is the place for those that want a mature environment to discuss things like religion, nudity, violence, among other things without having that feeling that someone is going to personally make it their mission to go after you and try to destroy your opinion, everyone at Spotlight respects one another and just simply wants to learn more about each other and their perspectives on things and beliefs and how they got to that conclusion. If Spotlight sounds like a community you want to join, or even if it doesn't, please check it out and sign up, you won't regret it. :D

Forgive me, seemed to be the only possible way of explaining it.

From the beginning;
One of these "compact flash drives" that I own was home to over a thousand thousand files that are very important for a few others. In the late of nights I used it temporarily to exchange information from one hard drive to the other on my Xbox 360 Elite. I did not delete the files before.

Apparently, the files from my Xbox "removed" my important files. After moving them, my flash drive was empty but, somehow, my laptop computer says that it still has them all, as the picture below details;

Is there some way of recovering them without resorting to "extreme" manners?

(CNN) -- In protest of what it calls a religion "of the devil," a nondenominational church in Gainesville, Florida, plans to host an "International Burn a Quran Day" on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.
The Dove World Outreach Center says it is hosting the event to remember 9/11 victims and take a stand against Islam. With promotions on its website and Facebook page, it invites Christians to burn the Muslim holy book at the church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
"We believe that Islam is of the devil, that it's causing billions of people to go to hell, it is a deceptive religion, it is a violent religion and that is proven many, many times," Pastor Terry Jones told CNN's Rick Sanchez earlier this week.
Jones wrote a book titled "Islam is of the Devil," and the church sells coffee mugs and shirts featuring the phrase.
Muslims and many other Christians -- including some evangelicals -- are fighting the initiative.
The church launched a YouTube channel to disseminate its messages.
"I mean ask yourself, have you ever really seen a really happy Muslim? As they're on the way to Mecca? As they gather together in the mosque on the floor? Does it look like a real religion of joy?" Jones asks in one of his YouTube posts.
"No, to me it looks like a religion of the devil."
The Islamic advocacy group Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Muslims and others to host "Share the Quran" dinners to educate the public during the monthlong fast of Ramadan beginning in August. In a news release, the group announced a campaign to give out 100,000 copies of the Quran to local, state and national leaders.

This is why I'm agnostic. I don't remember teleporting back to the 11th century, but here comes the 10th crusade.

lol alright so someone of you may know I used to live in Louisiana. Well my dad and brother still live down there so every few months my girlfriend and me make the 13 hour drive down there to see them. Well hotels aren't the cheapest.. so the last time I went down there I was looking for a friends house or something that had a spare bedroom to save some cash to be spent on the vacation instead of the hotel.. So one of my brothers OLD friends (like I was 12-13 when she was around) popped up on facebook and we talked and turns out she has a spare bedroom. AND its next door to my old house that I lived at for 15 years of my life. Holy shit YES. So I ask and she is more than happy and like acts super excited to see me and catch up. Over the days leading up to the trip I keep re-checking just to be sure ya know? And every time I check she says yeah its totally fine. So I take her word...

So we drive 13 hours. Once we get about 30 minutes out I call her... No answer.. I don't think anything of it. I figure shes still asleep (its like 11:00 a.m. when we get in and we left about 11:00 p.m. eastern). I get into town and keep trying to call and still no answer.. So I'm just amazed at how she could do this. Later I hear that one of my buddies was actually at her place earlier that day. So now I know for sure she isn't planning on calling me back. ANYWAYS fucks my whole vacation up.

So I hop on ole' facebook about a month later and read this status update from her..
They could be mistaken for strange-looking birds but these creatures are actually manta rays, leaping a staggering nine feet in the air.
The plucky animals, which measure just over three feet wide, demonstrate their acrobatic skills by bursting out of the water.
Once airborne they to flap their impressive fins in what looks like an attempt to fly.

I was wondering if any of you have an old Compact Flash card that you don't need or use. I'm looking to buy it cheap or be donated. It's going to be used for our marching band show this year in a Drum Pad Sampler(SPD-S) and we need it, and they don't sell them retail, only like 2 GB+ now, and since you need like a 512 MB or less to update the software to read the 4GB card, I just said fuck it we only need like 20 MB anyway, lets just get a 512 MB from somewhere. I thought I'd ask you guys before I ask eBay.

Anyone?
